Boundless Bio (BBI) a, Inc. (Nasdaq:BOLD) is a San Diego-based, clinical-stage, oncology company interrogating an exciting new area of cancer biology, extrachromosomal DNA (“ecDNA”), to revolutionize the way cancer is treated.

We are seeking a motivated Associate Scientist to join us on a temporary basis (at least 3 months) with experience and understanding of cancer biology to participate in drug discovery research. The successful candidate will work collaboratively in a highly matrixed team environment to 1) execute in vitro studies that further our understanding of the mechanisms of therapeutic compounds; 2) develop and implement robust biomarker assays to support translational development of novel molecules as clinical development candidates. The successful candidate will work with drug discovery project teams and scientists across different functional areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Implement cell and tissue-based assays to support biomarker identification and validation
  • Perform studies elucidating MOA and target biology
  • Analyze and present data in an organized and timely manner
  • Perform tissue culture work for experiments and to maintain Boundless Bio inventory, including: Developing drug-resistant cell lines, freezing down, and documentation of cells.
  • Conduct experiments using a variety of biology lab methods, including, but not limited to: Immunoassays, high-throughput cellular viability assays, western blotting, nucleic acid extraction, PCR, qPCR, FACS analysis, Immunoflourescence and FISH assays
  • Previous hands-on experience in various cell-based assays including, but not limited to, proliferation, apoptosis, cell cycle analysis, Western blotting, and strong tissue culturing skills is highly preferred
  • Proficiency in scientific data analysis programs including Microsoft Excel, GraphPad Prism, FlowJo
  • Identify and troubleshoot problems that may adversely affect test performance/results and either corrects the problem or escalates as needed to senior staff member for guidance/assistance.
  • Perform initial analysis on designed experiments and contribute to decisions for assay optimization.
  • Work in conjunction with internal department staff, external resources and/or collaborators as needed to obtain/share information and execute project.
  • Train and assist new staff with technical and operational procedures.
  • Complete all work according to established confidentiality and compliance rules, turn-around times, and quality standards, with the most efficient use of resources.
  • Author required compliance documents associated with laboratory equipment and procedures (SOPs, WI, Equipment logs, Validation protocols and reports).
  • Contribute to peer reviewed publications, posters, and meeting presentations.
  • Perform all duties in keeping with the Company’s core values, policies, and all applicable regulations.

Education/Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Biological Sciences (desired, but not required) or related scientific discipline with minimum of 4+ years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with typical laboratory platforms (e.g. Immunoassays, ELISA, FACS, western blotting, nucleic acid extraction, PCR, qPCR) is a must.
  • Experience with tissue culture techniques and storage methods is a must.
  • Experience working in controlled laboratory environments is desired.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with strong reasoning and problem-solving skills in experimental design, data analysis, verification, manipulation, and interpretation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and ability to apply principles, concepts, practices, and standards associated with analytical assay development/validation and/or sample testing in a laboratory setting.
  • Demonstrated success working in a team environment and independently following training.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

The anticipated hourly range for this position is $40.00 to $55.00. The final hourly rate offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type, and length of experience within the industry, education, etc.
