Based in the Global Animal Health Manufacturing, the COE Data Science & Biostatistics team is looking for an experienced senior data scientist with affinity for statistics to join our team. The team plays a critical role making data-informed manufacturing decisions spanning all key areas within manufacturing e.g., capacity optimization, process improvement, quality control, maintenance, yield optimization, regulatory filing for new products, and deviation management, etc.
As a senior data scientist in the COE Data Science & Biostatistics team, you will perform the following activities
Selecting appropriate analytical techniques and algorithms to best solve business challenges
Ability to choose right tools and infrastructure for data science projects and articulate those decisions
Ensuring quality delivery according to the standards and best practices methodology
Technical mentorship to junior team members
Leading data science projects
Driving the development of the SW code (quality, documented and reusable) to execute data science algorithms
Communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders
Understanding of the business context of the decisions to be supported
Building mathematical or statistical models using the available data
Use of R or python to design and develop analytical models and data science projects using advanced techniques such as simulations, optimizations and machine learning
Assessment of the output of the analytical solution and use the data to draw conclusions, identification of options, and making recommendations
Interpret the results and provide the advice to the business stakeholders
Building and maintaining of knowledge on the data sources, the data quality and metadata
Recognition of the repeatable situation and suggesting the appropriate level of automation of analytics
Promotion of a culture of modelling and analytics as a differentiator and competitive advantage - an environment that places high value on embedding analytical tools within business processes, and using information to make fact-based decisions
Staying in touch with modern methodology within predictive modelling
How we see an ideal candidate
MSc Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Economics or other related fields
At least 2 years of Data Science hands-on experience in Manufacturing space
Passion for advanced analytics (mathematics)
Passion for good quality code
Demonstrated proficiency in statistical techniques such as Design of Experiments (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), regression analysis, general linear models, and multivariate methods
Working with multiple collaboration DevOps tool such as JIRA, Git and Confluence is a plus
The ability to formulate models, analyze them, and program and run in some appropriate system (for example R or Phython)
Experience and/or ability to quickly learn new tools like Dataiku, SageMaker, Databricks, Mlflow Spark/ distributed compute environment
Extensive knowledge in one or more of the following areas: mathematical analysis and modelling, probability, stochastic processes, econometrics, machine learning, optimization, simulation, software development
Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to make high-level presentations for senior executives
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to work with incomplete or imperfect data, including ability to interpret and use the analytical results with real business context
Ability to communicate statistical concepts and analyses to non-statisticians
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a globally dispersed team
