Position Overview
The Chief accountant reports to Accounting & Controlling Lead in Norway and Iceland:
- Ensures financial accounts are maintained in line with Norwegian statutory requirements NGAAP and US-GAAP by applying appropriate accounting policies and procedures.
- Ensures accurate maintenance of the accounts in cooperation with internal & external Business Partners and maintain supporting documentation.
- Perform month, quarter and year-end close activities.
- Review and control payroll process and payroll accounting with external service provider.
- Supports global and local projects and initiatives.
- Back up of Accounting & Controlling Lead.
Major Activities
- Lead and manage General Ledger and month end close activities for legal entity.
- Manage assigned General Ledger accounts and perform month end close activities to ensure that financial statements are in accordance with USGAAP and statutory requirements NGAAP for legal entities of our company.
- Prepare VAT returns and ensures timely submission.
- Manage payroll accounting and cooperates with outsourced payroll providers & HR as necessary. Ensures all assigned accounts are reconciled in a timely manner, balances are accurate, and transactions correctly booked.
- Ensures accounting transactions have appropriate supporting documentations and maintain the records in a systematic manner.
- Manage intercompany transactions.
- Manage tax payments and reporting.
- Educates local organization on our company’s standard processes as they relate to accounting topics.
- Liaises and cooperates with internal and external Service Providers (Business Support Center (BSC) in Prague and Costa Rica, Corporate Tax team, Genpact (3rd party) and more)
- Supports Business Compliance activities from a financial perspective.
- Managing transactions in the local banks and global cash pooling
- Responsible for Internal, PWC and Tax audits.
- Lead/participate in Ad Hoc global and local projects.
Expertise Required / Core Competences:
- Master´s or bachelor´s degree in finance or Accounting and at least 5 years of experience in accounting/finance, CPA is a benefit.
- Advanced English and Norwegian language skills.
- Demonstrates understanding of national and regional finance laws, regulations, and standards (i.e. NGAAP, USGAAP, Foreign Corrupt Practice Act) and apply them in moderately complex situations to ensure the financial integrity of the business and financial statements.
- Experience from accounting in manufacturing environment is an advantage.
- Possesses the ability to navigate a large corporate organization with multiple stakeholders, effectively identifying and collaborating with subject matter experts to deliver on team objectives.
- Adheres to the highest standards of trustworthy and ethical behavior in all interactions and hold others to the same standards; comply with all laws, policies and regulations; identify and address ethical issues without hesitation.
- Ability to manage assigned processes and tasks independently with minimal supervision, with ability to meet due dates under time constraints.
- Stakeholder focused, structured and reliable person that adheres to agreed timelines.
- Experience with SAP and advanced user of Excel.
- Knowledge of SAF-T requirement
- Knowledge of Transparency Act requirement and future CSRD reporting
- Strong communication and relations leadership capabilities.
- Supports change management activities by leveraging strong financial expertise and project management skills.
