Job Purpose:
The Senior Automation Engineer is responsible for providing technical support in the field of automation. Supports a large spectrum of automated systems within Manufacturing Operations. Responsible for resolution of automation problems, implementation of Automation changes and troubleshooting in compliance with SDLC, GMP, safety, and environmental regulations. Actively support an empowered team culture including significant interaction with manufacturing, quality, GTO and engineering groups. Provides direct support to IPT Automation Lead including leading cross functional teams and providing direct guidance to the IPT Automation team.
Main Responsibilities:
· Provide expertise technical knowledge/advice to IPT/ COE’s on computerized/automation systems.
· Performs Automation maintenance, including system backup, disaster recovery, and obsolescence activities, and ensures automation systems remain in a validated state
· Ensures timely resolution of identified automation issues and unplanned events identified in the daily walk-through
· Supports Automation review process, including data-gathering, analysis, preparing annual performance reports and ensures actions are completed on time and meet regulatory requirements
· Escalate any ongoing automations issues to the Automation Lead in a timely manner.
· Maximizes production capacity through timely completion of planned maintenance activities and effectively resolving unplanned downtime and events
· Review PM’s being performed and looks for continuous improvement's opportunities.
· Provides Automation technical support for capital and other site projects.
· Perform automation change controls with guidance from Automation Lead to ensure that changes are raised and closed on time following the required quality standards. Manages Project Schedule to ensure that manufacturing is not impacted.
· Prepares and performs AIQ/AOQ, test plans, and documentation, ensuring documentation meets required regulatory standards
· Participates in HAZOP reviews as SME and completes action items as required
· Develops Automation SOPs, Job Aids and procedures
· Develops and updates Automation training packages, and conducts Automation training
· Support for deviation and operation investigation requiring code and system-level troubleshooting.
· Leads and applies effective root cause analysis and troubleshooting techniques to support resolution of incidents, events, deviations, atypical investigations and fault reports related to Automation and ensures all the resolution are effectively implemented within the agreed time frame to prevent recurrence.
· Supports a continuous improvement framework within Automation and the IPT, and works with Leads to identify and implement improvements
· Achieves Automation cost effectiveness and product cost reduction targets set in the Profit Plan, with particular emphasis on automation and waste reduction
· Any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronics, Chemical, or Computer Engineering.
Experience:
- 5 to 8 years of technical experience in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.
- Experience with SIEMENS systems is an additional advantage.
