Medical Affairs: 2026 Intern Placement Programme
Working in a professional and friendly environment will provide you with the opportunity to gain practical experience within the Medical Affairs Department in our Red Oak Campus in Dublin. This department is part of our company’s Medical Research Laboratories division, providing clinical, scientific, and technical expertise to the rest of the company and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will work in our Medical Affairs team across all of our therapy areas.
This role presents an exciting opportunity to actively contribute to the implementation of our medical affairs plans. In this role, you will take on end-to-end management of projects and gain exposure to other areas of the business by working cross functionally on initiatives aimed at supporting health care professional education and projects that support access for patients. This role will work on key business activities, while maintaining compliance with all statutory requirements, internal processes, and procedures.
During your 9 month placement with us, you will gain a full insight into the Medical Affairs Department within a global company. You will have the opportunity to work with medical advisors, therapy area medical heads, the country medical director, marketing, and commercial colleagues across some of our key therapeutic areas, which include vaccines, general & speciality medicine and oncology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing an understanding of our organisation’s products and disease areas.
- Working on assigned projects with medical affairs team e.g. medical education initiatives.
- Where appropriate and with support from the medical affairs team, play a role in identifying, developing and maintaining credible relationships with project stakeholders externally.
- Collaboration across internal functions to help develop medical affairs teams strategic plans
- Providing administrative support for Patient Access Programs
- Developing partnerships with market access, regulatory and development colleagues to appropriately and rapidly support gaining access for patients to our medicines
- Supporting operational aspects for local data generation projects, working alongside Medical Advisors, and other internal and external personnel. Providing operational and study management support in the planning, conduct and reporting activities
- Lead the metrics dashboards for the medical team
- Identify systems or process improvements to enable the department to run efficiently, leading in the digital space.
Technical Specifications:
- Potential Candidates will have a science degree or other biomedical related or healthcare degree.
- Evidence of interest in healthcare sciences.
- Any other relevant healthcare experience particularly in clinical trials or research.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in medical affairs.
