Are you a clinically trained scientific communicator with a passion for HIV care and improving patient outcomes? We’re expanding our Medical Affairs – Specialist Medicines team and have an exciting new opportunity for a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) focused on the HIV therapy area.
About the role As an MSL you will be the scientific face of our Specialist Medicines portfolio, building trusted, non-promotional partnerships with healthcare professionals, scientific leaders and academic centres. Reporting to the Therapy Area Medical Head, Specialist Medicines, you will deliver high-quality, timely scientific support and insight, primarily across HIV, while remaining flexible to support other General & Specialty Medicine (GSM) areas as needed.
This is a field-based role (up to 75% external engagement) with hybrid ways of working and travel across England and Wales in line with HCP preferences.
What you’ll do

  • Provide balanced, non-promotional medical and scientific information in response to HCP requests.
  • Contribute medical insights to UK strategic planning and Medical Affairs plans; implement tactical activities such as advisory boards and educational initiatives.
  • Identify educational gaps and develop high-quality resources and events for external audiences.
  • Support clinical development by identifying and engaging potential investigators and collaborating with clinical trials teams.
  • Facilitate scientific publications and ensure independence and objectivity in dissemination.
  • Partner across commercial and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate scientific exchange and training.
  • Maintain rigorous compliance with ABPI Code, GCP, pharmacovigilance and company policies.
  • Champion ethical governance and foster an inclusive culture of belonging and collaboration.
Who we’re looking for
  • Medical degree (MBBS/MBChB) or Pharmacy degree with GMC or GPhC registration.
  • Strong knowledge of ABPI Code and GCP; experience in the pharma industry or a healthcare/academic setting.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain relationships with scientific leaders and healthcare stakeholders.
  • Experience or demonstrable knowledge in the HIV therapy area preferred.
  • Good understanding of the wider NHS environment and how to partner effectively within compliance constraints.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Proficient with MS Office and standard IT tools.
Desirable strengths
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to translate insights into practical local plans.
  • Business awareness and the ability to apply commercial context while maintaining scientific integrity.
  • Strong project management and cross-boundary collaboration skills.
Why join us You’ll join a global healthcare company committed to advancing patient care through rigorous scientific exchange and collaboration. Our Medical Affairs team plays a central role in ensuring the scientific value of our portfolio is realised, training internal colleagues, and identifying unmet medical needs. You’ll work alongside talented, diverse colleagues and have opportunities to grow your career while contributing to meaningful improvements in patient care.
