Role Overview:
The Technical Lead for the Data Platform is responsible for overseeing the delivery of data platform solutions and technical standards. This role drives leading a team for successful implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performing data platforms, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical excellence.
Primary Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines to extract data from diverse sources and populate the data lake and data warehouse.
Develop data transformation rules and data modeling capabilities to support business requirements.
Collaborate with Product Analysts, Data Scientists, and Machine Learning Engineers to identify and transform data, making it understandable and actionable.
Work with the data governance team to implement data quality checks and maintain data catalogs.
Utilize orchestration, logging, and monitoring tools to build resilient, production-grade pipelines.
Apply test-driven development methodology when building ELT/ETL pipelines.
Analyze data to support business insights and reporting.
Use Git for version control and understand various branching strategies.
Participate as part of an agile team, contributing to sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
Create technical documentation as needed to support platform operations and onboarding.
Technical Leadership
Provide guidance on architecture, design, and implementation of cloud-based data platforms.
Collaborate with data engineers, architects, and operations teams to ensure best practices are followed.
Drive adoption of modern data technologies and frameworks.
Translate business requirements into technical deliverables.
Communicate progress, risks, and mitigation plans effectively to stakeholders.
Experience in data modeling and data mapping.
Governance & Compliance
Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Implement monitoring, logging, and performance optimization strategies.
Team Leadership
Mentor and guide technical teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Expertise:
Strong knowledge of data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure Data Services, Databricks).Proficiency in data engineering concepts: ETL, data modeling, streaming, APIs.Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps practices.Solid experience with AWS services (S3, IAM, Redshift, Sagemaker, Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, CloudWatch).Experience with platforms like Databricks, Dataiku.Proficient in Python / Java and SQL (Redshift preferred).Experience with Jenkins, CloudFormation, Terraform, Git, Docker.Experience with Spark/PySpark.Experience using Airflow for orchestration.Ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management.Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
8+ years in data engineering or platform roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership/delivery capacity.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
Experience with data governance tools and frameworks.
Exposure to AI/ML data pipelines.
