As a Software Engineering Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing the successful delivery of AI and software projects, managing risks, and ensuring the growth and satisfaction of your team. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders, including software engineers, delivery leads, clients, and other teams within the organization. Your responsibilities span both strategic and operational aspects, making this role pivotal in achieving organizational goals.
Responsibilities:
Provide technical direction and leadership to the technical teams
Co-establish and enforce best practices, processes, and standards for AI/software delivery across the organization
Help to monitor project progress, quality, and adherence to timelines to ensure successful software delivery
Team performance, capacity planning and staffing
Assess the team’s capacity and allocate resources effectively to meet project demands
Collaborate with project managers to balance workloads and optimize productivity
Lead recruitment efforts to hire top talent for the team
Facilitate smooth onboarding for new team members, ensuring they are integrated into the team effectively
Support them in setting personal development goals and creating action plans
Collaborate with Delivery Leads to establish individual performance goals for team members
Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to support professional growth
Recognize and reward individuals who actively pursue personal development opportunities
Mentor and guide software engineers and delivery leads
Encourage professional growth and skill enhancement
Manage technical expectations of key stakeholders, including business product owners and technical product owners
Co-facilitate communication between business and technical teams, ensuring alignment of project goals
Identify risks and dependencies, remove obstacles, and support the technical team
Drive Innovation and knowledge sharing
Bring innovative ideas and technologies to improve speed and quality of our engineering deliverables
Enable Communities of Practice to encourage knowledge exchange
Promote learning and collaboration across teams
Must haves:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field and relevant experience managing delivery of large software teams and projects/products
Proven experience in software engineering development methods, techniques and tools (8+ years)
Proven experience building AI products or working on AI/ML related projects
Understanding modern software architecture concepts
Excellent planning and project execution skills
Experience leading teams and projects (preferably 5+ years)
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
Demonstrated strong customer focus and problem-solving skills
Nice to haves:
Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems
Proficiency programming languages such as TypeScript, JavaScript and Python
Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools
Experience with cloud services – AWS, Azure
