Job Description

Role Summary

Reporting directly to Medical Affairs Lead of MER, the MER DSE Lead is responsible for helping to develop and implement new digital tools and capabilities for the V&I organization, focusing specifically on digital and omnichannel scientific engagement across over 20 small & mid-size countries in MER. The MER DSE Lead will have a dotted line to the EMEAC Medical Modernization Lead and will ensure that the medical modernization vision and strategy developed in the Medical Modernization Center of Excellence (MM CoE) is carried forward in MER.

The MER DSE lead will help transform scientific engagement within the region by implementing a digital scientific engagement and omnichannel strategy for Scientific Leaders (SL) and Key Decision Makers (KDM) , aligned with the medical teams in the MER countries and in compliance with local rules and regulations. The MER DSE Lead will be critical in our change management efforts by pursuing the V&I MM CoE vision & strategy, sharing and scaling best practices, communicating and supporting new ways of working across the regions, inspiring others to adopt innovative ways of working as we shape and transform our SL and KDM engagement strategy and modernize the way that the medical affairs team work in the region and the MER countries.

The MER DSE Lead will work closely with cross-functional teams, including colleagues in the Regions (EMEAC MM Lead, V&I Regional leads, Country Medical Directors (CMD) and MER Digital & Data-Analytics and Cross-Functional leaders), Global Medical and Value Capabilities (GMVC, Headquarters and EMEAC Hub), Analytics Center of Excellence (ACE) , GMSA Therapeutic Area colleagues (especially RVIT Leaders), IT, Digital Human Health and Legal and Compliance, to help develop and implement new channels for medical communications and new digital tools to enhance field medical/medical advisor SL and KDM engagement.

The MER DSE lead will assume direct management of a team of individuals dedicated to enhancing innovative digital and data practices within the region in support of our medical modernization efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Help develop, plan and implement the digital scientific engagement and medical omnichannel plans and field digital solutions and capabilities across all therapeutic areas (TAs) in MER in alignment the regional medical modernization strategy.

  • Responsible for identifying, evaluating, and driving adoption of digital and omnichannel strategies that address external SL and KDM engagement and are aligned with the MER regional strategic objectives, medical education goals, and country medical affairs plans.

  • Support change management efforts to ensure advocacy for new & emerging technological capabilities such as the company's Medical Portal, content personalization, and novel medical education and field medical engagement tools.

  • Assess successful implementation and productivity gains through medical modernization initiatives in MER in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Communicate, influence and inspire others to drive digital transformational change fostering a culture of continuous improvement to achieve long term success.

  • Actively participates as a member of the MER V&I leadership team, the EMEAC Medical Modernization leadership team and builds effective relationships with company's digital and data-analytics departments and communities of practice.

  • Partner with global, regional TA and GMVC teams to shape and locally implement a new digital & data framework, working towards a next generation of scientific engagement.

  • Actively recruit and hire a new team of 5 to 10 country-based digital scientific engagement leads to implement and further develop DSE and medical omnichannel engagement within the MER region.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Holder of a Pharm D, PhD or MD degree or a Masters degree in a technical field such as engineering, computer science, data science with solid cross-functional and direct leadership experience including at least 5 years of working in a Medical Affairs team or a cross-functional department with direct collaboration with Medical Affairs within a multinational-pharma company, and experience across enterprise-level organizations.

  • Track record of direct Scientific Leader engagement responsibilities or relevant experience with Health Care Key Opinion Leader Management within (a country of) the MER region

  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with digital and data-analytics projects in medical or relevant business units and senior leaders with the ability to influence and lead change while building strong alignment and partnerships.

  • Strong Compliance IQ and familiarity with regional regulations and standards for scientific exchange and corresponding international pharmaceutical codes and regulations governing external HCP engagements.

  • Strong project management skills with intellectual curiosity and the ability to create a vision as well as execute and lead complex strategic and operational initiatives in matrix structures.

  • Strong working knowledge of business processes, including strategic planning and budgeting, is highly desirable.

  • Well-organized, focused on results, capable of managing multiple projects with respect to priorities and charting a course for others.

  • Innovative thinker, entrepreneurial spirit, ability to identify and develop novel approaches to tackle daily tasks.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Currently based within Europe; no relocation offered.
