Role Overview:
As part of the EIT SCM Make Team, the SAP Manufacturing Functional consultant plays a critical role in delivering global SAP enhancements within the Production Execution workstream and ensuring seamless integration across key business processes, including Material Handling, Environmental Health & Safety, Quality Management, and more. This role supports our global network (NA, EU, APAC, and LA) and oversees the full project lifecycle—from scoping and gap analysis to solution design, testing, documentation, deployment to production, and hyper care.
What will you do in this role:
- Operate as part of an international SCM team of SAP experts, supporting NA, EU, APAC, and LA.
- Own SAP changes within the Production Execution workstream and ensure integration with adjacent processes (Material Handling, Environmental Health & Safety, Quality Management).
- Lead end-to-end delivery for enhancements and projects: scope definition, fit-gap/requirements analysis, solution and configuration design, testing, documentation, transition to production, and hyper care.
- Provide operational support to live markets, delivering continuous improvements across relevant SAP functional areas.
- Drive change management in partnership with technical teams (ABAP, Basis, Security, BTP-IS Integration), ensuring compliance with governance, release, and change control processes.
- Design, test, and troubleshoot integrations with third-party systems (e.g., MES and Automated Warehouse solutions), aligned to the relevant SAP modules.
- Execute rollout projects to extend the global SAP template into new markets and manufacturing sites.
- Create, review, and approve functional specifications, user requirements, and formal test scripts/results.
- Influence and collaborate across a global, matrixed organization to realize key objectives, coordinating with with multiple business units.
- Coordinate effectively with outsourced support vendors and cross-functional teams.
- Manage stakeholder expectations; translate business needs into SAP enhancements and project deliverables.
- Communicate status transparently, highlighting risks, issues, and design decisions; ensure ownership, tracking, and mitigation plans are in place.
What you will bring:
- Industry domain knowledge
- Prior experience in manufacturing and end-to-end process knowledge within Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals, or FMCG
- Required: knowledge with SDLC practices specific to the pharmaceutical industry (validation, change control, documentation)
- SAP manufacturing expertise
- 5+ years of hands-on functional and technical experience in SAP Manufacturing, preferably PP-PI (Process Industries)
- Hands-on experience with PP-PI execution tools: PI Sheets / XSteps, including design, configuration, and deployment on the shop floor
- Bonus: exposure to other modules such as WM/EWM, QM, and MM
- Integrations and shop-floor systems
- Proven experience integrating SAP with third-party MES or other shop-floor systems
- Knowledge of SAP communication and integration protocols used for system-to-system connectivity: IDoc, RFC, and Proxy (SOAP/HTTP, PI/PO/AIF)
- Advantage: familiarity with Körber PAS-X
- SDLC, change management and delivery tools
- Strong knowledge of SDLC processes, ideally within regulated (pharmaceutical) environments, including validation, change control, and documentation
- Hands-on experience with delivery and lifecycle tools: JIRA (work management, backlog, sprint boards), Xray or HP ALM (test management process)
- Communication and collaboration
