Role Overview:

The Senior Azure Full‑Stack Developer will be aligned to the Business Operations Technology (BOT) product line and will drive modernization and cloud‑native development across a portfolio of mission‑critical applications and services.

This is a hands-on role, responsible for designing and developing end-to-end cloud solutions—from modern web user interfaces to backend services—while also building, integrating, and supporting CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and platform automation.

Under the leadership of BOT technical and program leadership, this individual will play a key role in shaping BOT’s current and future cloud landscape. Beyond architecture and design leadership, this role requires direct execution and ownership—coding solutions, implementing pipelines, deploying infrastructure, and resolving issues across frontend, backend, and cloud platform layers.

This dual-impact model strengthens internal engineering maturity and supports BOT’s strategy of cultivating self‑sufficient, full‑stack product teams.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Application & Full-Stack Development

  • Design, develop, modernize, and maintain business‑critical applications using C#/.NET, Azure‑native services, and modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Build responsive, secure, and scalable web user interfaces using Angular and/or React, integrating seamlessly with backend APIs.
  • Develop and enhance REST APIs and distributed backend components using Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid, Azure SQL, and related services.
  • Implement end‑to‑end application flows, including frontend‑to‑backend integration, authentication/authorization, and API consumption patterns.
  • Contribute hands‑on to As‑Is and To‑Be architecture evolution, including business, data, application, and technical models aligned to enterprise standards.
  • Apply high‑quality engineering practices: unit and integration testing (frontend and backend), code reviews, static analysis, telemetry integration, and automated validation gates.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across UI, backend services, integrations, runtime execution, and Azure cloud services.

DevSecOps, CI/CD & Infrastructure Engineering

  • Build, maintain, and operate cloud‑compatible CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps (YAML‑based), including frontend and backend build/release workflows.
  • Integrate automated testing, security scanning, and quality gates across full‑stack pipelines.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and/or Bicep; own the deployment, versioning, and lifecycle of BOT environments.
  • Execute environment provisioning, configuration, secret management, and deployment troubleshooting for non‑production and production systems.
  • Configure and optimize monitoring and observability using Application Insights, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, dashboards, and alerting for both UI and backend services.
  • Diagnose failures across pipelines, infrastructure components, integrations, networking, identity, frontend delivery, and application layers; drive root‑cause analysis and remediation.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Leadership

  • Partner with solution architects, business analysts, project managers, and product leaders to influence end‑to‑end design decisions and ensure cohesive delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with Merck IT engineering teams, shared services, and third‑party providers to ensure consistent cloud and full‑stack engineering standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers on frontend frameworks (Angular/React), backend services, Azure architecture, IaC, DevSecOps, and operational readiness.
  • Participate in story refinement, design discussions, technical prototyping, and modernization planning.
  • Contribute to future‑state process and information‑flow mapping while driving incremental modernization deliverables.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline preferred.

Experience & Technical Skills

  • 6+ years of hands‑on software engineering experience, including full‑stack development in enterprise environments.
  • Strong expertise in C#/.NET, distributed systems, and Azure‑based cloud architectures.
  • Hands‑on experience building modern web applications using Angular and/or React, with solid JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals.

  • Ability to perform hands‑on troubleshooting across frontend, backend, infrastructure, and cloud platform layers.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile delivery, object‑oriented principles, secure coding, and enterprise architectural patterns.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical teams and architectural decisions.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and support both modern and legacy applications when required.

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Experience working in mixed onshore/offshore delivery models.
