Role Overview:

The Senior Appian Developer will serve as a key hands‑on engineering leader within the Business Operations Technology (BOT) Product Line. This role is pivotal in building a sustainable internal Appian capability modernizing our workflow automation ecosystem. As a senior engineer, you will design and deliver scalable Appian solutions, elevate engineering standards, mentor junior developers, and step in wherever technical depth is required to keep delivery moving.

This role is intentionally versatile—you will not only lead complex Appian development but also fill engineering gaps across the team, ensuring continuity, quality, and momentum across mission‑critical workflow initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Appian Engineering & Solution Delivery

  • Design, build, and optimize enterprise-grade Appian applications using SAIL, process models, records, integrations, and data fabric capabilities.
  • Develop reusable frameworks, accelerators, and common components to scale Appian capabilities and reduce dependency on external contractors.
  • Translate business requirements into technical designs, sprint stories, and architectural solution patterns.

Platform Modernization & Capability Building

  • Define modernization strategies that position Appian as a core low‑code automation platform across the product line.
  • Establish governance models, coding standards, and best practices to drive consistency and maintainability.
  • Partner with architecture, security, and platform teams to ensure Appian aligns with broader enterprise integration and modernization strategies.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Thought Leadership

  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Architects, and Engineering Leads to ensure timely, high‑quality delivery.
  • Serve as a hands‑on technical advisor across teams—supporting design discussions, troubleshooting complex issues, and unblocking development teams as needed.
  • Act as a bridge between Appian development and adjacent teams to ensure smooth integration with enterprise systems.

Mentorship & Team Enablement

  • Coach junior and mid‑level developers, conducting code reviews and sharing best practices.
  • Promote an internal culture of learning, craft excellence, and continuous improvement of Appian engineering maturity.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5+ years of hands‑on Appian development, with proven experience delivering complex enterprise workflows.
  • Appian Level 2 Certification required (Level 3 preferred).
  • Strong proficiency in:
    • SAIL
    • Process models
    • Records & data modeling
    • Appian integrations (REST/SOAP)
    • Appian APIs
  • Experience working with enterprise data structures and integration patterns.
  • Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD toolchains such as GitHub Actions.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with technical and business stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring developers, conducting reviews, and influencing engineering standards.
  • Experience working in Agile product teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Appian governance frameworks, reusable component libraries, and multi‑team development standards.
  • Exposure to highly workflow‑driven or regulated environments.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, BPMN, and Appian Cloud.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and enterprise integration best practices.
