Role Overview

The Data Engineer will design, build, and operationalize scalable data pipelines that power AI-driven cyber defense, automation, and platform-level enforcement. This role supports autonomous security capabilities by engineering high-volume telemetry ingestion, normalization, enrichment, and persistence across Microsoft Defender XDR, Sentinel, ADX, Databricks, and enterprise data sources.

This is not a reporting role. This position enables real-time decisioning, AI model execution, ontology-driven entity resolution, and automation workflows that reduce manual security operations and prevent incidents before they occur.

• Engineer and maintain high-volume, near–real-time ingestion pipelines (endpoint, identity, cloud, application, threat intel telemetry).

• Build and optimize data transformations in ADX, Sentinel, Databricks, and related platforms.

• Develop canonical data models and normalized schemas to support AI/ML workflows and ontology initiatives.

• Implement entity resolution logic (identity, device, service, resource relationships).

• Design enrichment pipelines that attach context (risk scores, threat intel, behavioral patterns) to raw telemetry.

• Support AI/ML engineers by delivering clean, structured, production-ready feature sets.

• Optimize query performance and cost efficiency across large-scale datasets (tens of millions of events per hour).

• Integrate telemetry outputs into automation layers (e.g., enforcement workflows, platform controls, kill switches).

• Build data quality validation, monitoring, and observability mechanisms.

• Partner with Platform Engineering and AI/Data Science verticals to enable autonomous defense capabilities.

What will you do in this role

• 3–6+ years of hands-on data engineering experience.

• Strong experience with Python and SQL.

• Experience building scalable data pipelines in cloud environments (Azure preferred).

• Familiarity with distributed data processing frameworks (Databricks, Spark, or equivalent).

• Experience handling high-volume streaming or near-real-time telemetry.

• Strong understanding of data modelling and schema design.

• Ability to optimize large-scale queries and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks.

• Experience working cross-functionally with engineering and analytics teams.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).

What should you have

• Experience working with Microsoft Defender XDR, Sentinel, Azure Data Explorer (KQL), or similar SIEM/XDR platforms.

• Background in cybersecurity telemetry, identity data, endpoint data, or threat intelligence feeds.

• Experience supporting AI/ML model development pipelines.

• Familiarity with ontology-driven design, entity graphs, or canonical data structures.

• Experience building production-grade feature stores.

• Exposure to automation workflows (Logic Apps, ServiceNow integrations, API orchestration).

• Knowledge of OCSF or similar normalization standards.

What Success Looks Like

Within 6 months, this engineer will:

• Successfully support ingestion and normalization of high-volume telemetry streams without performance degradation.

• Deliver clean, enriched datasets that enable AI-driven risk scoring and autonomous enforcement.

• Reduce manual data wrangling for AI/ML engineers by providing production-ready feature pipelines.

• Improve query efficiency and reduce latency for decision-critical workflows.

• Contribute to building the data foundation required for autonomous, platform-level cyber defense.

Within 12 months, this engineer will:

• Own critical telemetry pipelines powering enterprise-scale automation.

• Enable measurable reductions in manual triage and ticket volume through engineered data solutions.

• Be recognized as a core enabler of AI-driven cyber defense outcomes.
