Job Description

Position Overview - Basic Functions & Responsibility

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

Operational shift team lead, responsible for daily emergency response, safety, and security functions. Provides site-wide fire protection, emergency medical, and hazardous materials response coordination. Conducts scheduled and random inspections of all production, business, and operational support areas for fire, life safety, and security concerns. Daily functions include responsibilities for loss prevention, security, emergency response, project support, facilities, maintenance, and other service areas. Conducts fire and security audits, surveys to test existing controls, and evaluates risks involving protection of tangible and intangible company property. Enforces company regulations concerning security of company property, plant access, traffic control, parking, and employee conduct.

Primary Activities

The primary activities include and are not limited to the following:

  • Shift leader, coordinate security, fire, hazmat, EMS, and administrative operations during shift.

  • In the event of general plant emergencies, may serve as Incident Commander maintaining compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (q) (6) (v) and NFPA 1561.

  • Responsible for taking immediate action to protect personnel, facilities, records, materials, and to notify pertinent personnel as soon as possible.

  • Responsible for plant site fire, spill and assist with security response. Performs additional site emergency support activities as needed.

  • Performs routine fire inspections, fire system shutdowns and fire panel resets, fire fighting and fire protection equipment tests and provides instruction of fire fighting and fire protection personnel. Operates and maintains programs and systems associated with plant security and fire protection.

  • Conducts building inspections: fire hazard checks for presence of proper fire protection and emergency equipment; scheduled fire pump and fire extinguisher inspections.

  • Performs initial assessment and evaluations for smoke/odor complaints, chemical spills, fire/smoke conditions, alarm notifications, and other emergency response protocols, or any abnormal situation as directed by the Emergency Services Supervisor or designee. Provides assistance during chemical cleanup.

  • Direct, conduct, and coordinate training for site personnel, emergency operations, and community support, partnering with department and volunteer members.

  • Ensures emergency apparatus and powered equipment are tested in accordance with departmental guidelines and fire fighter gear is in proper operating condition at all times.

  • Perform elevated and confined space rescue if required.

  • Work with outside agencies responding to the site during emergencies.

  • Maintains operating logs and data to ensure productive, well documented equipment and system performance.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of the sites access control system.

  • Able to trouble shoot the alarm system and able to acknowledge and properly respond to all potential or actual alarm conditions.

  • Maintains good housekeeping in all areas associated with his/her responsibilities.

Skills:

  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Strong written communication skills, including report writing, emails, and official form completions.

  • Able to operate effectively and efficiently in high stress situations.

  • Able to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • Able to work under cGMP guidelines.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Emergency Medical Technician certification

  • Firefighter I, II or III

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a professional or volunteer firefighter

  • Physically capable of performing the tasks of the job in accordance with NFPA 1582

  • Experience in using Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook

  • Experience in using web based programs

  • Ability to work 12 hour rotating shifts, including holidays and weekends. Must be able to work overtime to cover open shifts as required.

Preferred Experience:

  • Firefighter NPQ

  • Hazmat Technician

  • Confined Space Rescue

  • High Angle Rescue

  • Fire Instructor I, II or III

The salary range for this role is:

$49,300 - $77,600

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.

The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
