Job Description

The Position

We are looking for an MDM Engineering Lead to guide the design, development, and delivery of Master Data Management (MDM) and Reference Data Management (RDM) solutions. This hands-on role combines engineering and leadership: you will help shape scalable, reliable data platforms, translate business needs into technical requirements, support implementation and code quality, and coach a small team of engineers. You will collaborate with product owners, architects, and data stewards to promote data governance and stewardship, and you will help introduce AI-driven approaches and automation to improve data quality and engineering efficiency.

What will you do?

  • Design and develop MDM/RDM solutions using cloud tools.
  • Deliver MDM artifacts and integrations that enable data modeling, mapping, data quality, and governance.
  • Integrate MDM platforms with other systems (ERP, BI, metadata stores, APIs, batch/messaging) as required.
  • Help configure and operate core MDM domains (e.g., customer, product, reference data) to meet performance and availability needs.
  • Explore and apply AI/ML and automation where they add value (e.g., entity resolution, matching, anomaly detection, metadata inference, CI/CD automation).
  • Work with stakeholders to define requirements, prioritize work, and support testing and deployments.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, support root-cause analysis, and contribute to durable fixes and runbooks.
  • Advocate and apply best practices for data governance, security, and compliance.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with MDM/RDM implementations or related data integration projects.
  • Familiarity with MDM platforms and data quality/integration concepts (tools such as Informatica IDMC, Informatica MDM, or similar).
  • Practical experience with data modeling, mapping, SQL, and scripting or programming (e.g., Python, Java, Shell).
  • Comfortable working with cloud concepts, Linux/Windows environments, and collaborating across technical and business teams.

Nice to have

  • Experience integrating systems via APIs, batch processes, or messaging (e.g., REST, Kafka).
  • Exposure to data integration frameworks (e.g., MuleSoft) or data quality tools.
  • Experience operationalizing ML/AI features in data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with agile and DevOps tools (JIRA, Confluence, CI/CD tooling, Git).
  • Experience working with distributed or vendor-supported teams.

What we offer

  • Exciting work in a great team, global projects, international environment
  • Opportunity to learn and grow professionally within the company globally
  • Hybrid working model, flexible role pattern (e.g., even 80% full-time is possible in justified cases)
  • Pension and health insurance contributions
  • Internal reward system plus referral programme
  • 5 weeks annual leave, 5 sick days, 15 days of certified sick leave paid above statutory requirements annually, 40 paid hours annually for volunteering activities, 12 weeks of parental contribution
  • Cafeteria for tax free benefits according to your choice (meal vouchers, sport, culture, health, travel, etc.), Multisport Card
  • Vodafone, Raiffeisen Bank and Foodora discount programmes
  • Up-to-date laptop and iPhone
  • Parking in the garage, showers, refreshments, massage chairs, library, music corner
  • Competitive salary, incentive pay, and many more
