The Position
We are seeking an innovative Data Marketplace Product Owner to drive the evolution of Discover's marketplace experience and enable our connected data-ecosystem transformation. As part of the Discover product leadership team, you will own the marketplace product that connects data producers and consumers across The enterprise, enabling a thriving ecosystem where data products are shared, consumed, and valued as first-class products. This role requires a unique blend of product management excellence, deep understanding of data marketplace dynamics, and the ability to build experiences that drive adoption, trust, and value creation in a federated connected data-ecosystem architecture.
Reporting to the Group Product Manager for Discover, you will work alongside the Search and Cataloging Product Managers to deliver a cohesive platform that transforms how Our employees discover, access, and derive value from enterprise data products.
What will you do?
- Define and execute the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Discover Marketplace, focused on enabling seamless interactions between data product producers and consumers across divisions.
- Drive consumer growth initiatives by developing features that enhance user experience, increase data product adoption, and expand the active user base across all divisions.
- Design and implement mechanisms that showcase data product value, including usage metrics, consumer feedback, ratings, and social proof features that build trust and discoverability.
- Create engagement loops that encourage data product producers to publish high-quality, well-documented products and motivate consumers to explore, request access, and provide feedback.
- Develop and track marketplace health metrics including active users, data product adoption rates, time-to-access, user satisfaction, and cross-domain data consumption patterns.
- Build marketplace capabilities that support decentralized domain ownership while ensuring global interoperability and standardization across the connected data-ecosystem.
- Partner with data governance teams to embed federated governance principles into the marketplace experience, enabling domains to maintain autonomy while adhering to enterprise standards.
- Design self-service workflows for data product registration, access requests, approval processes, and provisioning that balance ease of use with compliance requirements.
- Implement features that support data product contracts, SLAs, and quality commitments, making governance visible and actionable for both producers and consumers.
- Enable polyglot access patterns that allow diverse user personas (analysts, data scientists, ML engineers, application developers) to consume data products in their native modes.
- Build scalable tools and interfaces that empower data stewards to manage data products, monitor usage, respond to access requests, and maintain product health.
- Create operational dashboards and analytics that provide visibility into marketplace performance, adoption trends, and operational bottlenecks.
- Design automation capabilities that reduce manual overhead for common steward tasks including access provisioning, compliance checks, and usage reporting.
- Develop templated workflows and reusable components that enable divisions to extend marketplace capabilities without requiring core platform changes.
- Establish feedback loops (positive and negative) that continuously improve the marketplace based on producer and consumer insights.
- Design marketplace features that support the convergence of operational and analytical data products, enabling real-time and batch consumption patterns.
- Build discovery and access mechanisms that work across diverse data product types (APIs, event streams, data sets, ML models) and underlying platforms.
- Create interoperability standards and showcase capabilities that encourage cross-domain data product composition and value creation.
- Enable data product addressability and versioning that maintains continuity of access even as products evolve.
- Support integration patterns that allow data products to be consumed by both human users and automated systems.
- Translate business requirements from diverse stakeholders across divisions into actionable product specifications for engineering teams.
- Prioritize and manage the product backlog using data-driven prioritization frameworks that maximize business value and align with Discover roadmap themes.
- Drive continuous product discovery through user research, usability testing, and field visits to understand pain points and opportunities across divisions.
- Lead release planning and execution, including go-to-market strategies, enablement materials, training content, and stakeholder communications.
- Serve as the bridge between technical teams, business stakeholders, data stewards, and end users, ensuring transparency and alignment on priorities.
- Monitor total cost of ownership (TCO) and optimize for operational efficiency, scalability, and performance.
