A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Utilities Operations Engineer.

The Utilities Operations Engineer role provides day-to-day engineering support to Utilities and Tank Farm operations. Specifically supporting the Utilities manager and managing the day to day operations and monitoring of Utilities and the waste Water treatment Plant. The job will also include management of selected projects and improvement initiatives within Utilities areas. They will also act as a delegate for the Utilities manager.

First established in 1976, our Ballydine facility develops and supplies the active ingredients and final formulated product for a range of innovative medicines at its manufacturing and R&D facilities. Ballydine was our Company’s first site in Ireland, the Ballydine site is our Company’s primary small molecule pipeline commercialisation facility globally, operating as a European hub for quality, manufacturing, and engineering. Its highly skilled teams lead the way in the development of new medicines, including innovative treatments for Hepatitis C, HIV and immuno-oncology, the site exports to over 25 countries around the world.

  • Manage and monitor daily operations of utility services, including water distribution, wastewater treatment, electricity supply, cooling and gas services to ensure reliability and drive efficiency.
  • Manage and monitor the site Tank Farm activities including schedule and coordination of tankers, management of tank farm and cleaning of tanks in line with API production requirements.
  • Promote and implement sustainability practices within utility operations to minimize environmental impact and optimise outputs.
  • Support equipment reliability initiatives on site and represent utilities operations.
  • Manage and lead root cause analysis of deviations, using standard tools and methods, to resolve issues e.g. FMEA, Fishbone diagrams, 5 why’s etc.; oversee and implement subsequent corrective actions including ownership of enablons and equipment HAZOPs.
  • Attends daily walkthrough and tier meetings within Utilities and IPT teams to ensure that all operations and maintenance work in progress in Utilities is prioritized.
  • Acts as delegate for the Utilities manager in day to day running of Utilities.
  • Responsible/support all Utilities area in compliance initiatives and internal/external audits and EHS audits.
  • Lead analyses and monitoring of all critical processes and systems to identify differences between actual and expected performance based on observed and recorded data.

What skills you will need:

In order to excel in this role, you will more than likely have:

  • Electrical/Mechanical Background or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Environmental Science
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in utilities/engineering/ operations or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of utility regulations, environmental policies, and safety standards.
  • Proven experience project oversight.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyse complex problems and develop effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and management systems.
