Job Description

The BAS Manager is responsible for advanced engineering, optimization, and lifecycle management of BAS systems across the Rahway campus. This role leads a team that performs complex troubleshooting, system design, and capital project execution, while driving standardization, digital integration, and long-term BAS strategy.

The manager acts as a subject matter expert and provides technical leadership across BAS platforms and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

BAS System Engineering & Ownership

  • Lead administration, maintenance, and lifecycle management of BAS systems.

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of integrated systems, including network, server, and field-level issues.

  • Develop and maintain system standards, architecture, documentation, and databases.

Project Leadership & Execution

  • Support BAS scope for capital projects including design, specifications, installation, and commissioning.

  • Support system upgrades, migrations, and expansions (hardware and software).

  • Drive integration with enterprise systems (e.g., historians, analytics platforms, OT/IT interfaces).

  • Coordinate vendors, contractors, and cross-functional teams.

Optimization & Digital Integration

  • Develop advanced trending, analytics, and reporting strategies to improve system performance.

  • Drive energy optimization and operational efficiency initiatives.

  • Standardize naming conventions, control strategies, and system configurations.

Site Leadership & Collaboration

  • Serve as a BAS subject matter expert to Utilities, Facilities, IT, and Engineering teams.

  • Mentor junior specialist and provide technical guidance.

  • Support compliance, audits, and documentation requirements.

Required Education, Skills & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED with a minimum 8+ years of experience with building automation or industrial automation systems.

  • Strong experience with HVAC systems, environmental controls, and utility infrastructure.

  • Significant experience with Schneider Electric EBO .

  • Experience with BAS upgrades, integrations, and capital projects.

  • Strong knowledge of control systems architecture, field devices, and system networking.

  • Experience with system integration technologies (e.g., OPC, BACnet, Modbus).

  • Experience with data historians and analytics platforms (e.g., PI or similar).

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex automation systems.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or GMP-regulated environments.

  • Experience with OT/IT integration and cybersecurity for BAS systems.

  • Experience with commissioning/qualification and validation documentation.

  • Exposure to enterprise energy management and sustainability programs.

The salary range for this role is

$106,200.00 - $167,200.00

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.

The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
