Role Overview
This role is part of a broader enterprise initiative to establish a Data Context Layer (DCL) — a foundational capability designed to provide consistent, reusable, and scalable context across enterprise data products.
The DCL is intended to address challenges related to data fragmentation, lack of shared semantics, and inconsistent interpretation of data across systems and products. It establishes a unified layer for representing context, relationships, and meaning, enabling downstream products to operate with greater consistency, interoperability, and intelligence.
In addition, the DCL plays a critical role in enabling agentic AI capabilities across the enterprise by providing the structured context and semantic grounding required for intelligent agents to operate reliably. This includes ensuring that agent-driven workflows and decisions are based on consistent, governed, and interpretable data context, reducing risks associated with fragmentation, ambiguity, and lack of control.
Within this initiative, the Associate Director – Product Manager, Context Serving. will own the product definition, development, and evolution of core context serving capabilities. These capabilities form the backbone for how context is consumed across multiple products and platforms, and will be central to enabling governed, scalable, and reusable intelligent systems.
The role operates at the intersection of product, architecture, and enterprise platforms, working closely with Enterprise Architecture, platform teams, and product leadership to build enterprise-grade context capabilities that support both traditional data products and emerging AI-driven use cases.
Role Summary
We are seeking a Product Manager to own a single, high-impact capability within our enterprise data context platform: self-service serving of standardized data context. This role will focus on defining, building, and scaling one core capability that enables teams to publish, discover, and consume data context consistently across the enterprise.
The ideal candidate has strong product instincts, technical fluency in data/semantic systems, and experience partnering with engineering and architecture teams to deliver a platform capability from definition through production adoption. This role also requires working knowledge of agentic AI, prompt engineering, and context engineering concepts, particularly as they relate to delivering reliable, reusable context for AI-enabled applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the product vision, requirements, and roadmap for the assigned capability within the context platform.
- Define how the capability supports standardized, self-service serving of data context.
- Partner with engineering, architecture, and governance teams to translate standards into implementable product requirements.
- Ensure the capability is intuitive for users and scalable for enterprise adoption.
- Define workflows for:
- publishing context
- discovering context
- consuming context through approved interfaces
- validating and maintaining context quality
- Collaborate with adjacent platform teams to ensure the capability integrates cleanly with broader context, metadata, and governance services.
- Work with stakeholders to prioritize features, resolve tradeoffs, and drive adoption.
- Define success metrics such as usage, reuse, quality, and time-to-onboard.
- Support the transition of the capability from development into production, including release readiness, documentation, and operational requirements.
- Help shape how the capability supports agentic AI workflows, including reliable context delivery for prompts, tools, skills, and AI assistants.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of product management experience in technical products, data platforms, or enterprise software.
- Ability to work closely with engineering teams on platform or infrastructure capabilities.
- Familiarity with data context, metadata, ontology, or semantic concepts.
- Working knowledge of agentic AI, prompt engineering, and context engineering concepts.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience defining requirements for self-service or platform capabilities.
- Ability to balance user needs, technical constraints, and enterprise standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with ontologies, OWL, RDF, knowledge graphs, or semantic layers.
- Exposure to MCP, A2A, Timbr, or similar context-serving technologies.
- Experience with enterprise data governance, metadata management, or data catalogs.
- Background in AI, analytics, or application platforms that depend on trusted context.
- Familiarity with productionization concerns such as versioning, access control, observability, and lifecycle management.
- Experience supporting AI systems that rely on structured prompts, tool use, and context orchestration.
Leadership Characteristics
- Strong product thinker with ability to translate abstract concepts into actionable capabilities
- Systems thinker who understands data as part of a connected enterprise ecosystem
- Ability to balance innovation (AI/agentic capabilities) with governance and control
- Collaborative leader who aligns product, architecture, engineering, and emerging AI initiatives
- Execution-focused with emphasis on delivery, adoption, and enterprise scale
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role means:
- the capability is easy to use and clearly understood by target users
- teams can self-serve standardized context without heavy manual support
- the capability is reliable, governed, and production-ready
- adoption grows across teams and use cases
- the capability integrates smoothly into the broader platform strategy
- the platform enables higher-quality agentic AI experiences through better context delivery
