Job Description

This Associate Director role in the External Reporting group will be focused on the emerging area of Sustainability reporting, as the Company prepares its initial regulatory sustainability filings. This position will report to the Executive Director – External Reporting and will work extensively with the Sustainability Controller to help ensure our Company is positioned for and responsive to growing global regulatory external reporting requirements related to environmental, social and governance topics.

The responsibilities of this role require extensive cross functional engagement and collaboration with the Social Impact & Sustainability, Finance, Legal, IT, and Internal/External Audit teams.

Specific responsibilities include supporting the Sustainability Controller with establishing a strong sustainability control environment and financial reporting disclosure framework by:

  • Assisting in the implementation of new and evolving accounting/sustainability standards (including the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), EU Taxonomy, California and other state climate disclosures, ISSB standards, and country level sustainability reporting), working closely with the Social Impact & Sustainability, Legal and global/local policy teams to monitor regulations to ensure compliance.

  • Responsibilities related to the preparation of the initial CSRD regulatory report filing include:

    • Supporting the CSRD Program Management Team (PMT) as a program administrator. Responsibilities include identifying program risks and drafting mitigation plans, coordinating bi-weekly program meetings, ensuring accurate workstream status and tracking key program-wide action items. Responsibilities also include preparing communications and presenting to senior leaders to relay program status and key decisions.

    • Facilitating the enterprise-wide Double Materiality Assessment required under the CSRD reporting regulations and documenting materiality results within Workiva.

    • Serving as a key member of the PMT disclosures workstream to facilitate the preparation of the first CSRD regulatory filing including:

      • Leading gap disclosure readiness activities for specific topical areas including report decisioning, gap planning and gap closure

      • Coordinating the document review process

      • Providing input on development of the CSRD report outline

      • Drafting new disclosures within Workiva

      • Supporting the timely filing of the CSRD report with applicable EU member states.

  • Engaging in sustainability related process documentation, risk identification and mitigating controls to ensure the completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness of quantitative and qualitative sustainability related disclosures.

  • Working with IT and implementation partners to ensure proper and optimal functionality of the Workiva sustainability program.

  • Assisting with other emerging sustainability finance requirements, including tax information within the sustainability framework.

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.

  • Preferred: CPA

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years of auditing and/or accounting background.

  • Working knowledge of sustainability related topics and regulations, in particular familiarity with the CSRD and EU Taxonomy regulations.

  • Project management skills.

  • Experience in financial reporting, financial processes, and internal controls.

  • Proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Detail oriented with a commitment to a high degree of accuracy.

  • Ability to react to changes quickly and work effectively in high-pressure situations.

  • Previous experience working in complex environments and driving change.

  • Effective communication skills and ability to build collaborative relationships.

  • Ability to work in less structured work environment for daily activities.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Experience with the Workiva sustainability reporting module.

  • Experience working in the pharmaceutical industry.

The salary range for this role is

$129,000.00 - $203,100.00

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.

The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
