Our dedicated team is engaged in the development, manufacture, and marketing of a unique, patient centric, surgical treatment for knee osteoarthritis (the MISHA Knee System), the first of its kind implantable shock absorber(ISA) for patients with medial knee osteoarthritis (OA).

We have created a culture that reflects our responsibility to our patients and the opportunity for our team to thrive. With a unique culture of entrepreneurship, enthusiasm, and resilience we organize around goal focused teamwork and transparent accountability to achieve our successes.

We are currently seeking a dynamic Patient Access Liaison to join our growing organization.

YOUR PURPOSE

The Patient Access Liaison’s (PAL) primary mission will be to ensure our patients are effectively supported and will serve as a primary point of contact for patients at key stages of the myMISHA patient journey. This role assists patients with process navigation and support resources, facilitates a clear handoff to the Patient Access Case Manager for reimbursement and authorization support, and re-engages approved patients to support treatment scheduling and progression to treatment. This individual partners closely with physician offices, and other internal & external stakeholders while maintaining complete and accurate documentation in Salesforce.

A successful PAL consistently educates patients by delivering exceptional support eliminating treatment barriers, and ensuring patients move efficiently and confidently through the myMISHA process. The PAL plays a critical role in improving patient access, provider satisfaction, and overall myMISHA process efficiency.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Patient Navigation

  • Conduct timely outreach to new patients, assess where the patient is in the treatment journey, identify immediate needs, and clearly explain available myMISHA support resources and next steps.
  • Determine whether the patient has an established treating surgeon and, when needed, collaborate with other field stakeholders.
  • Identify patients who may benefit from speaking with a Patient Ambassador and coordinate appropriate connections consistent with approved processes and patient consent requirements.
  • Maintain ownership of follow-up until the patient is ready to enter the Patient Access authorization process, is connected to the appropriate provider/resource, declines further engagement, is not ready to proceed, or is otherwise appropriately closed.
  • Track activity, outreach attempts, disposition, referrals, connections, and milestones in Salesforce.

Patient Access Handoff & Re-Engagement

  • Facilitate a clear and timely handoff to the assigned Patient Access Case Manager once the patient is ready to begin reimbursement and insurance authorization activities.
  • Provide the Case Manager with relevant patient background, surgeon information, communication history, and outstanding needs documented in Salesforce to support continuity.
  • During the active authorization process, the Case Manager facilitates reimbursement-related case activity and patient communication associated with authorization, appeals, and payer follow-up.
  • Monitor for authorization disposition and re-engage approved patients promptly to resume navigation and treatment-scheduling support.
  • For denied, withdrawn, or otherwise closed cases, follow established Patient Access workflows regarding whether and when the PAL should resume outreach.

Patient Engagement & Education

  • Serve as a consistent point of contact for patients during the pre-authorization navigation phase and again following insurance approval.
  • Educate patients on the treatment journey, expected next steps, and available support resources within the scope of the role.
  • Clearly explain expected next steps, including when and how the patient will transition to the Patient Access Case Manager for insurance authorization support and when the PAL will re-engage following approval.
  • Develop trusted relationships with patients and caregivers to support engagement and follow-through.
  • Respond to patient questions regarding navigation, scheduling, logistics, and treatment expectations, and route clinical or coverage-specific questions to the appropriate resource.

Treatment Scheduling Facilitation

  • Contact authorized patients promptly following insurance approval and confirm readiness to proceed with scheduling.
  • Coordinate with physician offices, clinic staff, and surgical schedulers to facilitate timely treatment scheduling.
  • Track each patient's progression from insurance authorization through treatment completion.
  • Identify and address barriers preventing patients from moving forward with treatment.
  • Conduct consistent follow-up outreach via phone, email, text, or other approved communication methods.
  • Escalate unresolved scheduling or access issues to appropriate internal or provider stakeholders.

Care Coordination

  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and office staff to support completion of necessary administrative steps and scheduling activities.
  • Support communication between patients and provider offices regarding appointments and procedural scheduling.
  • Assist patients with understanding non-clinical pre-procedure requirements and next steps.
  • Ensure seamless handoffs between the PAL, assigned Patient Access Case Manager, internal and external clinical stakeholders, and provider offices.
  • Serve as a compassionate advocate focused on helping patients navigate access to prescribed treatment.
  • Support patients experiencing uncertainty or confusion by helping them understand available resources
  • Deliver exceptional, responsive, and consistent patient experience during the stages owned by the Patient Liaison, while reinforcing clear expectations during the Case Manager-led authorization phase.

Case Management

  • Perform case management duties as needed, including performing new case intake and case reviews, accurate collection and review of patient documentation, insurance verification, prior authorizations, and benefit coordination
  • Draft letters for appeal, external review, and administrative law judge hearings.

Salesforce Documentation, Reporting & Metrics

  • Maintain Salesforce as the central source of truth for patient journey activity, ensuring records are complete, accurate, timely, and actionable.
  • Document all patient outreach and communications, lead status, referral activity, surgeon and patient ambassador connections, scheduling milestones, barriers, dispositions, and outcomes.
  • Ensure required fields, tasks, follow-up dates, and patient journey stages are updated consistently to support visibility and accountability across teams.
  • Maintain compliance with all privacy, confidentiality, consent, and company documentation requirements, including HIPAA

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Improvement

  • Collaborate on follow-up processes, patient education resources, patient ambassador scheduling, and surgery scheduler workflows.
  • Participate in case review meetings, patient journey discussions, and process reviews as appropriate.
  • Provide feedback regarding common patient questions, barriers, trends, and process improvement opportunities.
  • Support initiatives designed to improve myMISHA efficiency, strengthen handoffs into Patient Access, reduce time from approval to treatment, and improve the overall patient experience.
